The numbers are real. So are the people.
A closer look at Georgia traffic-safety statistics, with clear dates, definitions, and direct links to the original data.
What these figures describe.
The Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety published these 2024 figures in its September 2026 Risky Driving Georgia Traffic Safety Facts report. They are statewide totals, not estimates for Sandy Springs, the Atlanta metro area, or our clinic. A fatal crash can involve more than one death, which is why fatal crashes and traffic fatalities are different measures.
“Suspected serious injury” is a crash-reporting classification. It does not count every person with pain after an accident, establish a medical diagnosis, or predict the outcome of an individual injury. The year describes when the crashes occurred; it is not the publication date.
How to use safety statistics responsibly.
Large numbers can help explain a public-health issue, but they cannot tell you whether your own symptoms need care. Avoid comparing reports without checking the year, geography, injury definition, and whether figures are preliminary or final. The original report contains the methodology and additional context.
We use these figures to support public understanding of road safety. They are not evidence of clinic results or a promise that medical care will prevent every long-term symptom.
Your situation deserves its own assessment.
If you are managing symptoms after a crash, follow instructions from any clinician who has already evaluated you. Seek emergency care for severe or worsening symptoms. For routine pain or injury follow-up, contact CMS Pain & Rehab to discuss whether an outpatient appointment is appropriate.
